Orthodontic Treatment
Most important targets of orthodontic treatment are to correct irregularities in tooth arrays, to correct disorders of jaw relations during development, to help correct speech disorders, to regulate breathing mechanism, to provide better chewing function, to give aesthetic appearance.
The first examination of the orthodontist should be performed from the age of 3-4 years. Although treatment is not started immediately, referrals can be made. From the age of 6-7, treatment can be started. It should be noted that jaw facial correction can only be performed in developmental age, while dental disorders can be corrected at any age.
The duration of orthodontic treatment ranges from 3 months to 6 years and the average duration is 1.5-2 years. It is usually treated with small metal brackets, but if there is aesthetic concern, transparent or porcelain brackets may be preferred even if the treatment time is slightly extended.
